Reasons why ivy leaves have spots

Reasons why ivy leaves have spots

1. Infection

Cause: Spots appear on the leaves of ivy, which is likely infected with a disease, namely leaf spot. This disease is spread through rainwater, and the spread will be faster if the growing environment is not breathable for a long time. This pathogen invades from the roots, first damaging the roots, and then affecting the leaves, causing spots of varying sizes to appear on the leaves. They will then grow larger and larger, covering a larger area. Measures: After the disease occurs, remove and burn the diseased leaves in time, and then spray them with fungicide. Then use formalin to disinfect the soil and completely eliminate the germs.

2. Waterlogging and root rot

Reason: Long-term waterlogging will cause root rot, making it difficult for the roots to breathe normally, hindering the function of transporting water and nutrients, and causing spots on the leaves. If left alone, the spots will not only be difficult to eliminate, but the plant's later growth will also be affected. Measures: Pay attention to watering at ordinary times to ensure the right amount of water. If there is too much water, drain it out in time.

3. Fertilizer is too concentrated

Cause: Applying too much fertilizer at one time, or applying uncomposted raw fertilizer, can also damage the roots and cause spots on the leaves. Measures: Apply fertilizer according to the growth trend, and dilute it with water if too much fertilizer is applied.
