Green Apple Arrowroot is a perennial evergreen herb of the Marantaceae family and the genus Maranthus. It is named for its large, round leaves that resemble apples and its green color. In addition, the green apple taro is shade-tolerant and suitable for medium-sized indoor potted plants for decorating bedrooms and living rooms. So how do you grow the green apple taro so that it will bloom like a flower? Let’s learn more about it below. 1. Soil Green Apple Arrowroot does not have high requirements for soil. It can grow normally in loose, breathable, humus-rich forest soil or leaf mold. When potting, you can use more peat soil mixed with perlite or coarse sand as the medium to ensure good permeability of the root system. Do not use pure garden soil for planting to avoid the soil in the pot becoming compacted after watering. 2. Temperature Green Apple Arrowroot is not heat-resistant, is afraid of high temperatures, and has poor cold resistance. The suitable temperature for its growth is 18℃ to 30℃. When the temperature is too high, it is necessary to cool it down by taking measures such as building sheds to provide shade and spraying water on the environment. In winter, the ambient temperature must not be lower than 10℃, otherwise it must be moved indoors to a sunny place in time. 3. Lighting Green Apple Arrowroot prefers a semi-shady environment and should be placed in a brightly lit place for maintenance. During the hot summer season, do not expose the plants to direct sunlight, otherwise the leaves will be burned. 4. Moisture Green Apple Arrowroot likes moisture and avoids drought. Dry air can easily lead to scorched leaf edges and poor growth. During the growing season, in addition to watering once a day, you should also increase foliage and environmental spraying to keep the relative humidity of the air above 85% to 90%. 5. Fertilization During the growth period, a mixture of 0.2% urea and 0.1% potassium dihydrogen phosphate can be applied or sprayed every week. When the ambient temperature is higher than 32℃ or lower than 18℃, fertilization should be stopped. 6. Pest and disease control Common diseases of green apple arrowroot include leaf spot and rust. It can be sprayed with 0.5:0.5:100 Bordeaux mixture or 800 times diluted 50% carbendazim wettable powder once every 10 days, and spray continuously 2 to 3 times. As for insect pests, under high temperature and dry conditions, the leaves are easily damaged by red spider mites, which can be killed by spraying 2000 times diluted 25% Beleba wettable powder. In general, the green apple arrowroot is a relatively popular internet celebrity plant. It is beautiful and easy to grow. If you pay attention to proper maintenance methods, it will easily bloom out of the pot. In addition, remember to replace the potting soil every 2-3 years to maintain the growth environment of the arrowroot and promote its development.
