Causes of Nasturtium Leggy Growth

Insufficient light

In some parts of our country, sunlight is unevenly distributed throughout the year, resulting in continuous rainy seasons and making sunlight a scarce commodity. People's mood will also be affected.

What’s even more serious is that the flowers and plants you grow tall and straight without you noticing. On rainy days, the nasturtium cannot be exposed to the rain and has to be moved indoors. As there is insufficient light indoors, the nasturtium has to grow tall and long as it can, growing into a slender waist and becoming a climbing morning glory.

Excessive water

Nasturtium is a plant that likes moisture and is afraid of waterlogging. Basically, you need to water the plant once every 3 days, but use a small amount each time, otherwise water will easily accumulate. Stagnant water can cause nasturtium to grow abnormally, with thin stems, small leaves, and a loose plant shape. It may even cause root rot.

Light and moisture treatment

Move the leggy nasturtium to a place with sufficient light. Even if that is not possible, try to move it to a place with the best light. I can only help you up to this point!

Water control can also inhibit the excessive growth of nasturtium. The watering method of watering when the soil is dry and then watering when the soil is wet is most suitable for nasturtium. After the plant grows too tall, you can lengthen the watering interval to once every 5-6 days.

Topping

If a nasturtium grows too tall, its plant shape will definitely be like that. But it is not impossible to save it. After topping, allow it to grow more branches and reshape the plant shape.
