Common diseases of Jianlan and their prevention and treatment methods

Anthracnose of Jianlan

Anthracnose occurs throughout the year, especially in hot and rainy seasons. When the disease occurs, the leaves turn yellow and black, and in severe cases the plant dies.

Solution: Spray the pesticide in time when the disease occurs, and do not ignore the small scar on the leaves. The pesticide that can be used is methyl thiophanate solution, which should be sprayed once every 7 to 10 days. In addition, spray Bordeaux mixture once a month.

Jianlan root rot

Root rot can also be said to be root nematode disease. Nematodes live in the soil and eat the rhizomes, causing the roots to rot. The leaves on the ground grow poorly, turn yellow, and even cause the plants to wilt. Nematodes can cause a large number of wounds on the roots. If not properly maintained in a humid environment, pathogens can easily invade and accelerate the disease of the plant.

Solution: Before planting Jianlan, disinfection should be done, ventilation should be carried out in time, and the roots should be irrigated with Bordeaux liquid once a month to kill insect eggs. For plants that are seriously infected, remove them from the pots in time, cut off the rotten parts, replace them with new soil and pots, and replant them after disinfection.

Sclerotium rot

White rot often occurs during the rainy season, mainly harming the rhizomes of Jianlan, causing them to rot and die. White colonies will appear on the soil surface, the plant will slowly fall over, and the entire plant will wither.

Solution: Choose suitable potting soil, pay attention to ventilation and light transmission during maintenance, and control watering. After the disease occurs, remove the diseased soil, sprinkle lime powder with pentachloronitrobenzene powder, clean the diseased plants, and disinfect them. The slightly diseased plants will slowly recover.

Jianlan scale insect

Scale insects are the main pests that harm Jianlan. It will be more serious in an environment with high temperature, high humidity and poor air circulation. Scale insects mainly harm the branches of Jianlan, causing the leaves to turn yellow and the branches to wither.

Solution: Spray the pesticide in time and use 1000 times diluted omethoate. Or rinse with clean water or soapy water, repeat 2 to 3 times to clean it.
