What is Xanthium

1. Plants

The plant of Xanthium sibiricum is about 20 to 90 cm tall. The roots are spindle-shaped, unbranched or branched. The stems are upright, unbranched or have a few branches. The lower part is cylindrical, with a diameter of 4 to 10 mm. The upper part has longitudinal grooves and is covered with grayish-white rough hairs.

2. Leaves

The leaves of Xanthium are triangular-ovate or cordate, about 4 to 9 cm long, 5 to 10 cm wide, nearly entire, with 3 to 5 inconspicuous shallow lobes, sharp or obtuse apex, slightly cordate or truncated base, with irregular coarse serrations on the edges, and petioles 3 to 11 cm long.

3. Flowers

The inflorescence head is spherical, with a diameter of about 4 to 6 mm. The corolla is bell-shaped, the anthers are oblong and linear, and the flowers are green, light yellow-green or slightly reddish brown.
