What to do if lily of the valley has root rot

What to do if lily of the valley has root rot

1. Reasons

1. Too much water

This is the main reason that will cause this problem. Because once there is too much water and it is not discharged in time, it will accumulate in the soil and form waterlogging. Once water accumulates in the flower soil, its roots will be soaked in water. It will be difficult for the roots to absorb oxygen from the water, so they will undergo anaerobic metabolism and produce a large amount of ethanol.

This method is not only inefficient in terms of production efficiency, but the large amount of ethanol produced will directly damage the roots of the plants, causing them to rot.

2. Too much fertilizer

In addition to water, excessive fertilizer may also cause this problem. Because too high a concentration of fertilizer will change the osmotic pressure of the soil, making it difficult for the plant's roots to absorb nutrients.

2. Solution

1. If it is due to moisture, we can place it in a place where the water can be evaporated quickly. In addition, we can also raise the flower pot to allow the water to drain faster. After the treatment, pay attention to controlling the frequency and amount of water replenishment, not too much.

2. If it is the fertilizer that is the cause, we can try to use some substances to neutralize it and consume the excess fertilizer. After treatment, be careful to control the amount of fertilizer added, not too much.

3. If part of the roots have rotted, we can deal with it by changing the pot. First, take the plant out of the soil, clean the surrounding soil, then cut short the rotten parts, and then disinfect it. If the degree of damage is relatively severe, we need to bury it with wet sand and then plant it so that it can grow new roots.

At the same time, we still need to deal with its branches and leaves, because too many branches and leaves will not help its recovery, so just leave about 10% of the leaves. When letting it grow again, we cannot apply fertilizer, and we need to loosen the soil regularly. It is also best to place it in the house to prevent it from being exposed to rain, otherwise its roots will be damaged again.

4. If most of the roots of the plant are rotten, it will be difficult to revive it. It is recommended to give up directly.
