What is the reason for the yellow leaves of Christmas cactus and what is the remedy

1. Too much light

Reason: Although it likes light, it must be diffuse light only and not direct light. Especially in the hot sun in summer, you must avoid it, otherwise the leaves will be damaged and turn yellow.

Remedy: Yellow leaves caused by too strong light should be moved to a place with scattered light as soon as possible, and the yellow leaves can be cut off with scissors. Spray a small amount of water to increase the humidity. It will recover soon in a semi-shaded environment, but be careful not to expose it to direct sunlight in the later stage.

2. Insufficient Fertilization

Reason: It likes fertilizer and cannot do without fertilizer during its growth period, so it needs to be top-dressed in time. If no fertilizer is applied for a long time during management, the plant may lack nutrients and the leaves will turn yellow over time.

Remedy: Prepare an appropriate amount of compound fertilizer, dilute it with clean water and then pour it into the soil so that it can be better absorbed. Re-fertilize twice a month and you will recover soon.

3. Too much watering

Reason: Christmas cactus itself likes dry environment and is drought-resistant. If you water the plant frequently during maintenance and the plant is in a humid environment for a long time, the roots will not be able to breathe well and the leaves will easily turn yellow.

Remedy: It is recommended to move to a ventilated place to allow the moisture to evaporate as quickly as possible. If the yellowing phenomenon is severe, it means that the roots have rotted. It is necessary to remove the plant from the pot, cut off the rotten roots and yellow leaves, disinfect it, and then replant it in new soil.
