How to plant peony flowers and when to plant them

How to plant peony flowers and when to plant them

1. When to plant peony flowers

It is recommended to plant peonies in autumn from August to October. Because its seeds like to germinate in a warm environment of 15-20℃. The temperature during this period is just within this range, and planting at this time is conducive to increasing the germination rate. However, if you are busy during this period and have no time to sow, you can also sow in spring around March.

2. How to plant peony

1. Seed processing: When planting peonies, you should choose healthy and plump seeds, as such seeds have a higher germination rate. After selecting the seeds, you need to soak them in a basin of clean water at about 50℃ for 24-48 hours. This will help soften their skin, making it easier for the seeds to germinate.

2. Prepare the soil: When planting peony seeds, you should choose relatively breathable soil. Do not choose soil that is too dense and not loose enough, because the internal pressure of this kind of soil is relatively high and the seeds will not germinate easily. It is recommended to use relatively loose or sandy soil.

3. Sowing: Expose the prepared soil to the sun for disinfection, then place it in a flowerpot with good air permeability, level the surface, and dig some planting holes with a depth of no more than 5 cm. After that, take the soaked seeds out of the pot, dry them, put them in the planting hole, and fill the hole with soil.

4. Later maintenance: Move the flowerpots where the seeds are planted to an environment of 15-20℃, keep it ventilated, and spray water from time to time to keep the soil in the pot at a certain humidity. After waiting for a while, they will sprout.
