Causes and treatments for yellowing daffodil leaves

Causes and treatments for yellowing daffodil leaves

1. Unreasonable temperature and light

1. Reason: It is not cold-resistant and is easily frostbitten when the temperature is too low, causing the leaves to turn yellow. When the temperature is too high in summer, if there is strong direct sunlight, the leaves will easily dry up and turn yellow.

2. Treatment method: In the summer when the sun is strong, it is necessary to move it away from the place where it is exposed to direct sunlight and place it in a place with scattered light for maintenance. When the temperature is lower in winter, the maintenance temperature should be adjusted in time, and it is best to carry out maintenance indoors.

2. Improper water and soil

1. Reason: It has a relatively large demand for water. Long-term water shortage during the growing period or the water is too pure but lacks certain minerals, which will cause its leaves to turn yellow. Alkaline soil will also cause its leaves to turn yellow, which is normal.

2. Treatment method: Ensure sufficient water and clean water quality. Do not use contaminated water for irrigation. When there is a problem with the potting soil, change the soil immediately without damaging the roots of the plant. Use fertile acidic sandy loam.

3. Improper fertilization

1. Reason: It needs certain nutrients during the growth period. If too little fertilizer is applied for a long time, it will have yellow leaves due to lack of nutrition. Excessive fertilization can cause older leaves to dry out and turn yellow.

2. Treatment method: Apply fertilizer according to the amount, and apply additional fertilizer in time if it is not enough. If too much fertilizer is applied, stop fertilizing immediately and increase the amount of water changed to lose the fertilizer. Or repot immediately, rinse the bulbs and use newly prepared planting soil.
