How to eat hairy lychee, pictures of hairy lychee

1. Introduction

Hairy lychee, also known as rambutan, red-haired fruit, and sapodilla, is a large tropical fruit tree of the Sapindaceae family. In addition to being red, its fruit also comes in yellow varieties, and tastes similar to lychee. It is sparsely distributed in my country, with only large planting areas in Baoting and Sanya on Hainan Island. The flowering period is from February to April, and the fruit ripening period is from June to August. It prefers a growing environment of high temperature and humidity, no wind damage, and low-altitude mountains. It grows better when the annual average temperature is above 24 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature cannot be lower than 17 degrees Celsius. The soil should be deep, rich in organic matter, fertile and loose, with good drainage and ventilation, and the soil pH should be between 4.5-6.5. It is native to the Malay Peninsula and is grown in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. It is known as the "King of Fruits" in Thailand.

2. How to eat

Eat fresh: You can directly peel off the shell of the hairy lychee and eat the white flesh inside. The flesh of the hairy lychee tastes similar to that of lychee, fresh, juicy, sweet and sour.

Tea: You can peel the pulp from the shell, then boil it in water and drink it. This way of eating allows its flavor to be fully combined with water, making the taste richer when drinking, and can also effectively relieve symptoms such as diarrhea and thirst.

Cooking: When making soup or porridge, you can add some hairy lychees, which will add the sourness and sweetness of the flesh to the porridge or porridge, and make it more nutritious. Or you can make it into a salad, such as shrimp rambutan salad, which is not only nutritious but also tastes better.
