What to do if the leaves of gardenia turn yellow

What to do if the leaves of gardenia turn yellow

1. Place in a ventilated place

Cause: Poor ventilation is the main reason for the yellowing of gardenia leaves, which not only affects the growth of the plant, but also causes various diseases and pests.

Solution: Place the plant in a ventilated place, such as a balcony and windowsill, which not only enhances air circulation but also provides sufficient light.

2. Improve the soil

Reason: Gardenia prefers acidic soil and has a higher demand for iron than ordinary plants. Therefore, insufficient iron content can easily lead to poor growth, yellowing of leaves, etc.

Solution: Prepare some ferrous sulfate solution, dilute it and spray it on the leaves.

3. Supplement nitrogen fertilizer

Reason: Most plants will have yellow leaves due to nitrogen deficiency. If the plant looks listless, has weak branches and small leaves, it is likely that it is lacking nitrogen.

Solution: When applying fertilizer in spring and summer, use compound fertilizer mainly composed of nitrogen fertilizer. However, the amount of fertilizer should not be too much, and too high a nitrogen content is not good either, as it will cause the branches and leaves to grow too long but not bloom.

4. Strictly control water

Reason: Water accumulation in the gardenia pot can easily lead to root rot, which in turn causes the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: After overwatering, remember to drain the water in time and pour out the excess water from the flowerpot to avoid water accumulation. But be careful not to damage the branches when pouring water.

5. Repotting and changing soil

Cause: The potting soil lacks nutrients or is compacted, which makes it difficult for the roots to absorb water and can also cause yellowing of the leaves.

Solution: Repot and change the soil every year, choose pots of appropriate size, and use loose and fertile soil. In addition, frequent soil loosening can also help.
