How to Make Fireweed Bloom at Christmas

How to Make Fireweed Bloom at Christmas

1. The temperature should be appropriate

In winter, the temperature will be relatively low, but we should know that the fire flower is heat-resistant but very cold-intolerant. The temperature suitable for its growth is generally between 23 and 30 degrees. In winter, it can withstand temperatures around 0 degrees, but it cannot be kept in a low temperature environment for a long time, otherwise it will easily cause the plant to be frozen, and it will not be able to bloom well. Generally speaking, except in South China where it can be planted outdoors, in other places the potted plants must be moved indoors for maintenance in winter.

2. Adequate lighting

Fireweed generally prefers sunlight, so it can grow well under such conditions. Therefore, when the temperature is low in winter, we must give it enough light and never place it in a place with insufficient light for a long time. We can usually place it on the balcony in the room, and it must be in a sunny place so that it can fully enjoy the sunlight, but it can also tolerate a little semi-shaded place, but it cannot tolerate it for a long time, otherwise it will grow to a limit and it will not bloom well. In addition, when enjoying the sunlight, you cannot let it be exposed to one side all the time. You can turn the pot from time to time to prevent it from growing too tall.

3. Water and fertilize in moderation

In fact, in winter, the fire flower's demand for water is not particularly high, so you must not over-water it at this time, otherwise its roots will easily rot. In addition, after applying phosphorus fertilizer in autumn, do not increase fertilizer when winter comes, as the need for fertilizer is very little at this time.

4. Prevent and control pests and diseases in a timely manner

Before it blooms, we can frequently check whether there are some small insects hiding in its roots and leaves. Otherwise, it will directly affect its growth, causing it to fail to bloom on time or even not bloom at all, so timely prevention and control must be carried out with caution.
