What should I do if the leaves of purple bamboo turn yellow? Finding the cause is crucial!

Why do plant leaves turn yellow?

There are several reasons that may lead to this phenomenon, which are summarized as follows.

The most likely reason is improper watering measures, and there are two possible situations. One is too much watering. If it is excessive, the roots of the plants may be in overly wet soil for a long time, which will of course cause damage. Another situation is that the plant is in a state of water shortage for a long time and then suddenly watered. In this case, the roots will not be able to adapt to the rapidly changing environment for a while, which will threaten the leaves.

The second reason is that the plant lacks certain trace elements. We may all know that if a plant lacks the element N, its leaves will first turn from a darker green to a lighter color. If the deficiency continues, the situation will continue to deteriorate, and the leaves will eventually turn yellow and fall off.

The third possibility is long-term lack of light. This is easy to understand. If there is no light for a long time, even chlorophyll cannot be formed. How can the leaves not turn yellow in the long run?

Solution

For the first type of situation, what is needed is to control watering reasonably. Generally speaking, plants need a lot of water, so it is definitely inappropriate to suddenly water them after not watering them for a long time (except in winter when water demand is very low) as we mentioned above. However, even if there is more, there should be quantity. In order to better control the moisture of the soil, it is best to choose a container with good drainage.

As for the second reason, we have to add some fertilizer artificially. In fact, animal manure is the best choice. If not, other fertilizers containing N are fine.

The third situation is easier to deal with. Don't keep the plants in a dark place for a long time. Just expose them to sunlight appropriately.
