What to do if the tiger tail orchid has roots but does not sprout (Why does the cutting tiger tail orchid not grow)

Why does the tiger tail orchid take root quickly but does not sprout or grow leaves?

Unlike cuttings of Kalanchoe and rose, which will sprout and produce new branches immediately after taking root, it takes at least 4 weeks for its leaves to slowly grow new buds after taking root.

When trying to grow Sansevieria by leaf cuttings, in addition to using a cutting medium with good air permeability and drainage, you also need to control the humidity to prevent the leaves from becoming waterlogged and rotten due to excessive moisture. Increasing the light appropriately after rooting will also help rapid germination.

During the entire leaf cutting process, do not frequently pull out the leaves to check whether they have taken root or sprouted, and do not frequently perform operations such as lifting the roots that are not conducive to growth and development. Let nature take its course.

As long as the leaves are not moldy or waterlogged, they will naturally sprout when the time is right.

Continue to maintain it for a long time after the leaves sprout. When the side buds grow to a size that can survive independently, separate them from the mother leaves and transplant them independently.

What should you pay attention to when maintaining potted tiger tail orchid to promote growth?

Tiger tail orchid prefers a well-ventilated scattered sunlight environment, and avoids high temperature, high humidity and severe frost. It grows well in an ambient temperature of 10-30℃.

At this time, the cultivation medium is required to be loose and fertile, rich in organic matter, and the flowerpot should be of appropriate size and have good air permeability.

Tiger tail orchid is drought-resistant and should not be kept in water for a long time. In dry seasons, you can spray water around the flowerpot or on the leaves to maintain a certain air humidity, which is conducive to fresh leaf color and clear patterns.

During the vigorous growth stages in spring and autumn, you can add some water-soluble fertilizers or sprinkle some granular slow-release fertilizers in the flowerpots, which is conducive to full leaves and more side buds .

For potted Tiger tail orchids that are already a bit crowded, you can change the pot and soil around April in spring. If there is a need for reproduction, you can also carry out division reproduction at the same time.

The root system of Sansevieria is mostly horizontal and can be cut along the direction of the rhizome. After the wound is dried, it can be transplanted elsewhere.
