How to promote flower buds for Christmas cactus and what fertilizer to use to promote flower

How to promote flower buds for Christmas cactus and what fertilizer to use to promote flower

1. Pruning branches and leaves

If you want the Christmas cactus to bloom more and more luxuriantly, you should prune the branches and leaves regularly. During the peak growing season, the overgrown leaves and poorly growing leaves should be cut off. This will not only save a lot of nutrients, but also allow the plant to be better ventilated and exposed to the sun, accumulating more nutrients, which will help it bloom, and the flowers will bloom more and better.

2. Get more sun

Its demand for light is actually not very high, but it still needs more sunlight to meet the needs of flowering. Sufficient light can promote flowering. Therefore, before flowering, the plant should be placed in a place where it can receive diffuse light. It is best to receive more than five hours of sunlight a day, which can help it bloom earlier.

3. Suitable temperature

It is not cold-resistant and prefers to grow in warm places. If the temperature provided before flowering is too low, it will affect flowering and be detrimental to flowering. Only when the temperature is suitable can it have the effect of promoting flowering. The suitable temperature for growth is around 20 degrees. At this temperature, flowering can be accelerated, the number of flowers will be greater, and the colors will be more colorful.

4. Apply fertilizer

The fertilizer it needs for flowering is naturally more than for normal growth, so it should be supplemented with fertilizer in time and the appropriate type of fertilizer should be selected. During the growing season, decomposed fertilizer and water should be applied regularly, once every 20 days. Before flower buds form, that is, before flowering, an appropriate amount of phosphorus fertilizer and potassium fertilizer should be applied to promote flowering.
