How to spend the winter in potted grapes? What to do in winter

1. Plastic surgery

When the temperature drops in winter, it stops growing and goes dormant. During this period, it is necessary to prune it, and cut off the thin branches, intersecting branches, overgrown branches, and diseased branches. The branches after fruiting should also be pruned. The specific amount depends on the variety and growth. Generally, 1-2 buds are left on the short shoots, 4-6 buds are left on the middle shoots, and 8-10 buds are left on the third shoots. Reasonable pruning can save a lot of nutrients, which is very beneficial for wintering and next year's growth.

2. Control the temperature

If the temperature of the potted plant is relatively low, it can be moved indoors, but be careful to control the indoor temperature, which should be maintained between 0 and 5 degrees. It should not be too high. If the temperature exceeds 10 degrees, the buds will germinate prematurely, consuming nutrients, which is not conducive to growth next year.

3. Increase the application of basal fertilizer

After winter, you should apply base fertilizer when repotting. Fertilizer can be fermented organic fertilizer, such as sesame paste residue, chicken manure or bean cake fertilizer. Be careful not to apply too much fertilizer and do not apply it directly near the root system to avoid burning the roots.

4. Water in time

Although it will go dormant in winter, watering of potted plants cannot be relaxed. If water loss occurs, the root system will be easily damaged and the buds will dry up, which will affect germination next year. Therefore, it is necessary to water it in time, generally once a week, so that the soil is slightly moist.
