How to accelerate the growth of buds of Gardenia? What to do if the buds grow slowly?

Gardenia buds grow slowly, and to promote their growth it is necessary to ensure that the cultivation environment and methods are suitable.

1. Replacement of substrate

The substrate suitable for the growth of gardenias must be slightly acidic. If the substrate is not selected well, it will affect the growth of its flower buds. Or the nutrients in the substrate have been consumed, and new substrate needs to be replaced as soon as possible to meet its growth conditions. You can prepare your own substrate by mixing garden soil, leaf mold and peat soil, or you can buy it directly from the market.

2. Supplementary lighting

In order for gardenia to form more flower buds, it is necessary to ensure that the lighting conditions are suitable. If there is insufficient light for a long time, the plant will form very few flower buds. Therefore, it is necessary to adjust the environment in time and supplement it with appropriate light so that it can synthesize enough nutrients to promote the smooth growth of flower buds.

3. Supplement nutrients

Gardenia requires a large amount of nutrients to bloom. If no fertilizer is applied for a long time, the plant will lack nutrients and the flower buds will grow slowly or even fail to grow. However, if only one type of fertilizer, such as nitrogen fertilizer, is applied for a long time, the branches will grow too long without blooming, which will consume too many nutrients. Therefore, it is necessary to apply fertilizer in time to supplement nutrients, pay attention to the balance of elements, increase the application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, and promote the growth of flower buds.

4. Water properly

The formation and growth of flower buds also depend on the supply of water. From April to September, the soil in the pot should always be kept moist to ensure that the plant has sufficient water support for its growth. But don't water too much. Wait until the soil in the pot is dry before watering, and don't let water accumulate in the soil.

5. Prune at the right time

Timely pruning of the plants, especially topping, can promote the growth of plant branches and form more flower buds.
