How to grow and propagate Benbatis succulents

How to grow and propagate Benbatis succulents

1. Loose soil

As a succulent plant, Benbatis is suitable for growing in loose and fertile soil. If the soil is too sticky, it will often be detrimental to the breathing of the roots and will also affect the discharge of water. You can use peat soil and vermiculite to prepare potting soil, or you can use garden soil and coarse sand as the substrate, and you can also add an appropriate amount of organic fertilizer as base fertilizer.

2. Sufficient light

Benbatis likes light and should be placed in a sunny place so that it can receive sufficient light in the morning and evening. But at noon, you have to provide shade, otherwise the plants will be exposed to the sun and their leaves will melt. Regular exposure to sunlight is not only beneficial to photosynthesis, but also can keep it in good condition, greatly increasing its ornamental value.

3. Appropriate amount of water and fertilizer

Benbatis does not require much water. You don’t need to water it too much at normal times. Just wait until the soil is completely dry and then water it thoroughly. Make sure there is no stagnant water. Summer and winter are the dormant periods for plants, and water needs to be properly controlled to keep the soil slightly moist. In addition, during its growth period, you should add a little succulent fertilizer every month to provide it with nutrients.

4. Summer and winter

Benbatis is relatively hardy and can survive the summer more easily. First of all, we must provide shade to prevent the plants from being exposed to the sun. Secondly, we must spray water appropriately to lower the ambient temperature. In addition, we must maintain good ventilation to prevent bacterial growth. When winter comes, you need to keep warm. The temperature should not be lower than 5℃. Also, pay attention to water control and stop fertilizing.
