If the temperature is lower than 15 degrees Celsius, the seed germination, pollination, fertilization and reddening process of tomatoes will be affected. 1. Planting time of spring tomatoes

The suitable seedling age for open-field spring tomato cultivation is 50 to 70 days, that is, sowing should be carried out 50 to 70 days before planting. Spring tomatoes are usually planted after the late frost period when the local temperature stabilizes above 12 degrees Celsius.

2. Planting time for autumn and winter crops

The autumn and winter crops are generally sown and seedled from mid-to-late July to early to mid-August, transplanted from mid-to-late August to early September, covered with film from mid-to-late September to early October, and harvested from late November to early February of the following year.

3. Planting time for winter and spring crops

The winter and spring crops are sown from early November to early December, transplanted from mid-to-late January to early February of the following year, and harvested from early to mid-March to June.

4. Planting time for winter crops

The overwintering crop is a large crop of cultivation. Generally, seedlings are raised from mid-to-late September to early October, transplanted in November, and harvested in January of the following year.

Tomato seed treatment method

1. Soak seeds in warm water

First soak the seeds in clean water for 1-2 hours. Then put the seeds in warm water at 55 degrees Celsius, keep the water temperature even and soak for 15 minutes, and continue soaking for 3-4 hours to germinate. When soaking seeds in warm water, the usual ratio is one part seeds to two parts water. Stir constantly and quickly to ensure that the seeds are heated evenly to prevent scalding.

2. Disinfection with chemicals

Soak the seeds in clean water for 3-4 hours, then soak them in 10% trisodium phosphate solution for 20 minutes, wash them with clean water and then germinate them.

Soaking seeds in 0.1% potassium permanganate solution for 15-30 minutes can effectively reduce the occurrence of tomato mosaic virus disease and early blight.
