How to cut onions so they will regenerate

How to cut onions so they will regenerate

1. How to regenerate

When cutting onions, keep the onion heads and only remove the green leaves. In addition, it needs to be cultivated in water and given appropriate light so that it can regenerate continuously.

2. Regeneration method

1. Keep the rhizomes: If you want the onions to regenerate, you must keep enough rhizomes. The length of retention varies depending on the variety. Scallions are usually kept at about 5 cm, with the green part being 3 cm.

2. Hydroponic growth: Find a transparent glass container that is higher than 5 cm. Place the green onions root side down. If the container is large, you can put a few more. Then add clean water until the scallion is covered. Don't add too much, or it will inhibit its growth.

3. Daily maintenance: In order to promote the growth of onion leaves, a suitable environment must be provided. Place it on a sunny windowsill, which can provide sufficient light, with at least 4 hours of sunlight per day. You can also open windows for ventilation to help cool down. The water should be changed once a day, and it is better to use rainwater or well water.

4. Harvesting onion leaves: Generally, after 1-2 weeks, the onion leaves will grow and can be cut off. The growth of onion leaves consumes nutrients in the bulb. Generally, they will not grow again after three harvests, and new onion roots can be replaced for cultivation.
