Water and fertilizer management tips for Bauhinia

Water Management Tips for Redbud

Bauhinia likes a humid environment, but cannot grow in a waterlogged state, so you must master certain skills and methods when watering.

The Bauhinia should be watered thoroughly immediately after planting, then watered again on the third day, and once again on the sixth day. After these three waterings are completed, you can water the Bauhinia according to the specific weather conditions, and it is best to keep the soil moist but not waterlogged.

Water the plant in time in summer, and spray the leaves and the surrounding environment to maintain humidity in the air.

If the temperature is not high in autumn, watering should be controlled to prevent autumn growth.

In winter, water the plants with enough anti-freeze water before winter comes, and water them to help them grow green again in early March of the following year.

Except for July and August when watering is determined based on precipitation, water thoroughly once from April to October. Use the same watering method in the third year, and enter normal management in the fourth year, but make sure to water the plant thoroughly with antifreeze water and greening water.

Drain the water promptly after rain to prevent water accumulation in the pot which may cause root rot.

Fertilization management tips for Bauhinia

Bauhinia likes fertile soil. If there is enough fertilizer, the branches and leaves will be lush and the flowers will be colorful. If there is insufficient fertilizer, the branches and leaves will be sparse and the flowers will be few and light in color.

Apply sufficient base fertilizer when planting. It is best to use leaf mold, manure or dried chicken manure. Mix it with the planting soil when using it, otherwise the fertilizer will burn the roots of the Bauhinia.

After normal management, apply nitrogen fertilizer once a year after the flowering period to promote vigorous growth of Bauhinia.

Applying phosphorus-potassium compound fertilizer once in early autumn is beneficial to the differentiation of flower buds and the safe wintering of new branches after lignification.

When applying fertilizer in early winter, combine it with frozen water and apply cow and horse manure.

If the plant grows poorly, you can spray 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution and 0.5% urea solution on the leaves.
