Magnolia seedling planting method

Magnolia seedling planting method

1. Planting time

Magnolia is usually planted in spring. It is usually done half a month before budding, but can also be done after the flowers fade. Since it is not tolerant to transplanting, the time must be controlled, otherwise its survival rate will be reduced.

2. Environment Selection

Magnolia should be planted in a place that is shielded from light from the side to avoid strong light that may burn its leaves. But don't plant it under a big tree or in the shade, as lack of sunlight will cause the tree to be thin. At the same time, you should choose higher terrain. Water is prone to accumulate in low-lying areas, which will submerge the roots and make it impossible for them to breathe.

3. Dig out the seedlings

Before digging out the magnolia seedlings, water them thoroughly and wait for 4-5 days. Allow it to have enough water to absorb and allow the roots to carry enough soil. When digging it out, avoid damaging the roots. The diameter of the soil ball is generally about 10 times that of the seedling. Tie it with straw rope to prevent it from falling apart.

4. Transplanting

After choosing a place for planting, first dig a hole of suitable size and fill the bottom of the hole with mature soil. Then plant the soil ball into the hole, fill it with soil and compact it, and water it thoroughly. After that, water it every two days, and you can carry out normal maintenance after watering twice.
