How to plant canna

1. Planting seeds

1. Sowing time: The sowing time of canna is related to temperature, and it must germinate in an environment of 20℃. It is usually carried out in March and April, and greenhouse sowing can be done in January and February.

2. Seed treatment: The seed coat of canna is very hard and needs proper treatment, otherwise it will be difficult to germinate. You can soak it in warm water, the temperature is about 25℃. After soaking for 1-2 days, the seed coat can be peeled off, or you can use a scissors to grind the seed coat.

3. Preparation of potting soil: Canna is highly adaptable and is not picky about soil. Loose and fertile sandy loam is more suitable for its growth, allowing the seeds to germinate faster.

4. Sowing: Place the seeds after removing the seed coat in the potting soil and cover them with a layer of soil. The soil should not be too thick. After that, place the flower pot in a place with higher temperature to germinate, and it will germinate within 3-4 weeks.

2. Planting Tubers

1. Planting time: Tubers are generally planted in March and April, when the temperature is more suitable, which is conducive to the growth and recovery of tubers. Once the temperature rises, it is easy to cause the root tubers to rot, so it must be done early.

2. Tuber processing: Cut the canna tubers into multiple pieces, leaving 1-2 buds on each one. If there are rotten parts on the tuber, it needs to be removed in time.

3. Planting: Bury the small tubers in the potting soil to a depth of 10 cm. This will allow it to better retain heat and prevent frostbite caused by sudden cold air.

4. Subsequent maintenance: Place the flower pot in a cool place and maintain good ventilation. Don't water too much on a daily basis, just keep the soil moist. New shoots will appear in two to three weeks. After 5-6 leaves grow, apply fertilizer to help flowering.
