The reason why gardenia does not bloom but only grows leaves

The reason why gardenia does not bloom but only grows leaves

1. Incorrect water and fertilizer

The normal growth and successful flowering of gardenia cannot be separated from the application of water and fertilizer. If it only grows leaves but does not bloom, it may be because something is not right. It may be because of too much nitrogen fertilizer, causing the plant to grow too tall, but lack of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, so it is naturally difficult for flowers to grow. You can apply fertilizer normally before and after the flowering period, reducing nitrogen and increasing phosphorus and potassium.

2. Temperature is too high

When caring for it in winter, if the indoor temperature is too high, it will germinate prematurely, making it difficult to form flower buds, grow flower buds, and even more difficult to bloom. If the indoor temperature is too high, you can move it to the balcony.

3. Wrong lighting

Flowering has a lot to do with the supplement of sunlight. If there is insufficient light, the plant will find it difficult to bloom. You can give appropriate sunlight according to the changes of seasons. Pay attention to shade and avoid the sun in summer. In winter, you can supplement sunlight and expose to full sunlight.

4. No pruning

One of the reasons is that the branches have not been pruned for a long time. They grow long and messy, consuming too many nutrients, making it impossible to concentrate nutrients to promote flowering. You can prune regularly to remove some of the branches.

5. Pests and diseases

If there is no ventilation for a long time, the plants may be infected with diseases and pests, which can also affect the growth of flowers. You can ventilate the soil to prevent the disease at ordinary times. If you find pests and diseases, you should spray pesticides to treat them in time.
