When to bring bougainvillea indoors

When to bring bougainvillea indoors

1. Time of entry

Generally speaking, bougainvillea should be moved indoors around October. However, the temperature in each region is different, and it is best to decide the time to enter the room based on the local climate. If you are in the southern region, it can be a little later, and it can be brought indoors around November. But if you are in the northern region, it is best to go earlier. Usually, when the outdoor temperature drops below 10℃, it is time to move indoors.

2. Preparation for Entry

When you are ready to move the bougainvillea indoors, you should first rinse the leaves with clean water to clean the insect eggs on the branches and leaves. Then use carbendazim to spray to prevent pathogens from growing on the plants. In addition, proper pruning should be carried out to cut off dense branches, crossed branches and long branches.

3. Indoor maintenance

After bringing it indoors, you should pay attention to its maintenance location. It is best to place it on a sunny balcony so that it can receive proper light during the winter. However, don't get too close to the window to prevent being blown directly by the cold wind, which will increase the chance of frost damage. If it is a newly transplanted seedling, cover it with a layer of film when bringing it indoors. The amount of watering should be reduced appropriately, and the water temperature should be close to the indoor temperature. In sunny weather, open windows appropriately to ensure air circulation.
