How to prepare soil for asparagus fern

How to prepare soil for asparagus fern

1. Soil preparation

When growing asparagus fern, you may need to prepare the soil yourself, usually by mixing leaf mold, garden soil and river sand. It is best to add some fully decomposed base fertilizer to the soil, which will be more conducive to the growth of the plants. In addition, during the cultivation process, the soil should be loosened frequently to avoid soil compaction that would hinder the healthy growth of asparagus fern.

2. Soil Adjustment

The cultivation soil used should have good air permeability and be careful not to be too sticky. Try to adjust the soil ratio appropriately according to the area where you are. Generally speaking, the humidity in the south is relatively high and it rains frequently, so you can add an appropriate amount of coarse sand to the soil to prevent water accumulation and root rot of the plants. The climate in the northern region is very dry, and water will evaporate in a short time, so you can add more leaf mold.

3. Notes

1. If the prepared soil is not permeable or has poor permeability, you can add some clean pebbles at the bottom of the flowerpot to reduce the chance of water accumulation.

2. It is best to disinfect the soil before use, especially the soil that has been used. It must be disinfected first, otherwise the bacteria in it will attack the roots of the plant and hinder its growth.
