How to pot bare-root succulents

How to pot bare-root succulents

1. Prepare the soil

When caring for succulents, you need to prepare suitable flower pots. The material of the flower pots determines the subsequent management methods. If you choose a porcelain pot, it has poor air permeability and water retention, so you should water less. If you use a ceramic pot, it has good air permeability but poor water capacity, so you need to increase the amount of water. In addition, the soil should be breathable and loose. If the air permeability is poor, it will easily cause root rot.

2. Planting in pots

After the soil is prepared, first fill part of the flowerpot with it to make the bottom of the flowerpot into a cone shape, then put the succulent plant in, fully expand the root system, and carefully cover the soil to minimize friction and damage to the roots. Until the root system is completely covered, but make sure all the leaves are exposed. Planting in pots like this is more conducive to ventilation and the later germination of new roots.

3. Covering with stones

After planting in the pot, a layer of gravel should be covered on top of the potting soil. This is not only beautiful but also can fix the plant and prevent it from falling over. After covering, gently compact the soil with your hands to make the roots fit better with the soil.

4. Watering and maintenance

Don't rush to water after planting to avoid black rot. It should be left for 24 hours before watering. When watering, water should be irrigated in small amounts to allow the water to penetrate slowly and not accumulate. Afterwards, keep it in a ventilated place where the light is not very strong, but be careful not to expose it to strong light.
