How to change the soil for lucky bamboo growing in water

How to change the soil for lucky bamboo growing in water

1. Root treatment

Because it grows in water for a long time, it has adapted to such an environment and its root hairs have begun to degenerate, so the roots need to be pruned. First, cut off the rotten and old roots. If the root system grows long and dense, it needs to be shortened appropriately to restore its root absorption capacity.

2. The root system needs to be cleaned

After pruning, you need to wash it with clean water. Do not put it under the pipe and rinse it with strong water. You can collect water in a basin and shake the roots back and forth to rinse them. Then, in order to make the roots softer, they need to be placed in a cool place to dry, paying attention to ventilation conditions. After about half an hour to an hour, they will be dry.

3. Choose potting soil

Choose a flowerpot according to the shape of the plant and the length of the roots underneath. It is best to use a ceramic pot with good air permeability. The loam inside needs to be permeable, and cannot be too sticky or alkaline. You can mix leaf mold, river sand and nutrients in the ratio of 2:7:1.

4. Put it in the basin

Fill the pot one-third full with loam, then plant the plant in, filling in the rest of the soil and compacting lightly. After watering it thoroughly, place it in a ventilated environment and wait for it to grow new roots.
