Five methods and techniques for germinating strawberry seeds (how to plant them specifically)

Five methods for germinating strawberry seeds

1. Soaking and germination

Soak the seeds in 30-degree warm water for 24 hours, take them out, dry them, and place them in a warm place.

2. Sealed germination

Place the soaked seeds in a sealed container and provide a warm, dark environment. Buds will be visible in a week.

3. Use paper towel to germinate

First spray the paper towel with water, put the seeds on it, cover it with another layer of paper towel, and spray it with water frequently.

4. Germination in sand storage

Put sand in a sealed box and seal it.

5. Sphagnum moss germination

Put moist sphagnum moss in a sealed box, put the seeds in it and seal it.

How to soak strawberry seeds

After choosing the strawberry variety, the next step is to soak the strawberry seeds. There are two main ways to soak strawberry seeds: warm water soaking and chemical soaking.

Soaking seeds in warm water

First, soak the strawberries in warm water at 55-60 degrees Celsius, stirring constantly during the soaking process until the water temperature drops to about 30 degrees Celsius.

Then let the seeds stand in the water for about 10 hours and then take them out. After taking the seeds out, you need to rub them constantly to clean the mucous membrane on the surface, then rinse them with clean water and drain them.

Seed soaking with chemicals

The purpose of soaking strawberry seeds with chemicals is to disinfect and sterilize them, and reduce the probability of them getting sick during their growth. The chemical soaking of strawberry seeds is generally done by soaking them in a certain concentration of agricultural streptomycin wettable powder for 2-3 hours, and then washing and draining them for the next step of germination treatment.

It should be noted that seeds soaked in chemicals generally need to be soaked in clean water for about 6-8 hours in advance, and the dosage of the chemicals must be controlled to avoid harming the seeds and preventing them from germinating normally.
