Chinese cabbage planting technology and management

Chinese cabbage is mainly planted in autumn because the temperature in autumn is more suitable for its growth. The sowing time can be separated according to its variety. Early-maturing varieties are sown in August, while late-maturing varieties are sown in late August.

Chinese cabbage planting technology

1. Soil

Chinese cabbage has relatively high requirements on the soil. It is suitable for growing in sandy loam or loam that is rich in organic matter, loose and fertile. 5000-7000 kg of decomposed organic fertilizer is required per mu. At the same time, it can be combined with some nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizers, and then combined with cultivated land, the fertilizer and soil can be mixed evenly.

2. Planting

When selecting seeds, you should choose high-quality seeds that are resistant to adversity, cold-resistant, and disease-free. When sowing, you can use row sowing, hole sowing, or machine sowing. After waiting for the seeds to germinate, keep the soil moist to speed up the emergence of seedlings.

Chinese cabbage management methods

1. Watering

Chinese cabbage requires a lot of water, but if too much water is applied in the field, the soil will easily become compacted, which is not conducive to the root system and will also increase the chance of disease.

2. Topdressing

During the cabbage heading stage, it needs plenty of water and fertilizer in order to increase the weight of the cabbage head. During the seedling stage, its growth is relatively weak and the demand for fertilizer is relatively less.

3. Prevent downy mildew and soft rot

If you water the cabbage improperly during the rosette stage, it will aggravate the occurrence of the disease. When the cabbage is infected with downy mildew, there will be yellow-brown spots on the leaves and a mold layer on the back.
