How to plant lotus root in pot

Potted lotus roots are generally planted in April and May. The planting pots need to have drainage holes, the soil needs to be clean silt from the pond, and lotus seeds with lotus buds and free of diseases and pests should be selected for planting.

Growth habits of potted lotus roots

Potted lotus root is a warm-loving plant that is not shade-tolerant. It can only germinate when the temperature is above 15°C. During the peak growth period, the temperature needs to be maintained at around 30°C, and sufficient sunlight is needed throughout the entire growing period.

How to plant lotus root in pot

1. Prepare the soil

Before planting potted lotus roots, you need to first prepare the potting soil, and then use a large-diameter water tank as a flowerpot so that the plant has enough growth space. The best cultivation medium is unpolluted pond mud.

2. Planting method

After preparing the soil, you can start planting. Insert the lotus root into the soil at a 20° angle along the edge of the flowerpot. Pay attention that the lotus buds should face upwards when planting, and the planting depth should be about 10 cm.

Precautions for potted lotus root cultivation

1. After the lotus root seedlings are planted, there is no need to rush to water them. Wait until the soil slowly dries up and cracks before watering. Generally, lotus roots have a very strong ability to absorb water, so they need to be watered regularly.

2. When planting lotus roots, you must pay attention to the fact that the plants must receive sufficient light. The requirements for light during the growth period are not strict, but when growing rhizomes, sufficient light must be provided.
