How to fertilize osmanthus

How to fertilize osmanthus

Steps of fertilization

First, choose fertilizer for osmanthus: different fertilizers need to be applied in different growth periods of osmanthus. In general, phosphorus fertilizer, nitrogen fertilizer, potassium fertilizer and a mixture of phosphorus fertilizer and nitrogen fertilizer are needed.

The second is the time for fertilization: Osmanthus needs a lot of fertilizer in early March because it is in the period of growing branches and buds. Applying nitrogen fertilizer to osmanthus during this period will help the growth of new branches and buds, make the flower buds grow rapidly, and help flowering.

After growing to late May, because the branches and leaves of osmanthus have grown mature, osmanthus needs to accumulate nutrients, at this time, apply phosphorus fertilizer and nitrogen fertilizer.

After October, because osmanthus will continue to grow and need nutrients for photosynthesis, it is necessary to add a mixed fertilizer mainly composed of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium during this period.

After winter, the osmanthus should be moved indoors for maintenance. After moving indoors, cake fertilizer should be applied on the surface of the soil to allow the osmanthus to survive the winter.

Final care after fertilizing: After fertilizing the osmanthus, you need to water it with enough water and place it in a warm and sunny place.

Precautions for fertilization

First of all, when fertilizing osmanthus, be careful not to apply fertilizer in hot weather. Hot weather will make the fertilizer hot, and hot fertilizer is not suitable for osmanthus, so avoid fertilizing in hot weather. It is best to fertilize in the evening when the temperature drops.

Secondly, do not apply concentrated fertilizer to osmanthus. When applying fertilizer, only a small amount of fertilizer and some water are needed.

Finally, do not apply raw fertilizer to osmanthus. Use corroded fertilizer, otherwise it will burn the roots of osmanthus.

Be careful not to apply fertilizer directly on the roots every time you apply fertilizer, so as to avoid burning the roots and affecting the growth of osmanthus.
