It is not easy to germinate celery. Although celery seeds seem to absorb water easily, its peel has poor water absorption. Controlling the amount of water is a very important step. At the same time, celery seeds have relatively high requirements for germination temperature. The most suitable germination temperature for celery is around 15~20℃. If sown in summer, the germination rate will decrease and the germination time will be prolonged. Therefore, when sowing celery in summer and autumn, we generally need to soak the seeds to germinate. Celery germination method1. Low temperature germination Celery seeds should be soaked 7 to 8 days before sowing, and the shells should be removed. Then soak them in a basin of clean water for more than 24 hours. Rinse the seeds several times after soaking to wash off the mucus on the seeds. After washing, spread them out in a ventilated place to dry. When the seeds are half dry, put them in a clay pot, cover them with a wet cloth, and place them at 15 to 20°C for germination. 2. Germination with regulator Some celery seeds cannot be put into use immediately, and some have a dormant period of 1 to 2 months. At this time, gibberellic acid is needed to accelerate germination. It should be mixed into a solvent of 4 kg of water for every 20 ml, and then soaked for about 12 hours. After being fished out and dried, it can shorten the germination time and increase the germination rate. 3. Variable temperature germination After soaking the celery seeds, put them in a refrigerator at 15~18°C. After 12 hours, raise the temperature to 22~25°C. After another 12 hours, lower the temperature back to 15~18°C. In this way, they will germinate in about 3 days and can be sown. Celery seedling plantingStep 1: Seedbed Preparation Before raising seedlings, choose a place that is sheltered from the wind and facing the sun as the seedbed. It does not need to be too large. After leveling, apply sufficient base fertilizer on the seedbed, and then mix the fertilizer and soil evenly. Generally, it is sufficient to till the soil about 10 cm. Then build shade measures on the seedling bed, and then cover it with fine soil and sand after sowing to improve the soil's ability to retain heat and retain moisture. Step 2: Soaking seeds and accelerating germination First soak the seeds in warm water for 24 hours, then take out and wash them 3-4 times with clean water, knead open the outer skin of the seeds, and then put them in the sun to dry. When the seeds are in a semi-dry and semi-wet state, bury them in a clay pot and water them thoroughly, then place the clay pot at a temperature of about 19 degrees for germination, and they can be sown after germination. Step 3: Seedling Management After sowing, you should use herbicides appropriately to remove weeds, or pull them out manually. Water the seedlings in time after they break through the soil to keep the soil evenly dry and wet. Fertilize the celery in time during the seedling stage. When the seedlings grow to have two leaves, some of them should be removed. The principle of removing seedlings is to keep the strong and remove the weak. |
