When does osmanthus bloom?

1. Flowering period

There are many varieties of osmanthus, and their flowering times are different. However, most of them will bloom in August of the lunar calendar, which is September to October in the Gregorian calendar, and they will all bloom in autumn. The varieties that bloom at this time generally include golden osmanthus, silver osmanthus, and red osmanthus; while Osmanthus fragrans will bloom throughout the year, but the number of flowers is very small.

The blooming time of osmanthus is closely related to the planting area, and it will not bloom until it reaches a certain flowering age. Usually in Shanghai, Anhui and Jiangsu, osmanthus flowers bloom in October, while in Beijing, Hebei and other regions they bloom in September. In the Northeast, they bloom a little earlier, and basically bloom in August.

2. What to do if it doesn't bloom

1. Ensure light: If you want to make osmanthus bloom, you need to change the maintenance method. It needs to be exposed to sunlight for about 10 hours a day, otherwise it will hinder the growth of flower buds.

2. Appropriate fertilization: A small amount of nitrogen fertilizer should be applied. Too much will cause excessive growth, few flowers, or even no flowers. Applying more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers can help it bloom.
