Mango grafting method

Mango grafting method

The advantage of mango grafting is that it can maintain the excellent traits of mango, which not only speeds up the fruiting speed of mango, but also adds a strong root system. Therefore, the grafted mango is drought-resistant, wind-resistant, and has a longer lifespan. Grafting is the main method used in mango production.

Mango grafting time

The best time for mango grafting is in spring from March to April, or in summer from August to September, because the climate in these two seasons is more suitable for the growth of mangoes. Once the temperature drops below 20 degrees, the survival rate of mango grafting will decrease as the temperature drops.

Mango grafting technology

The mango planting area in my country is relatively large. Generally speaking, most of the mango planting methods are adopted, such as high-quality grafting, bud grafting and cut grafting.

1. Bud grafting

Choose a fully grown bud on the scion, take the bud as the neutral point, carve a square hole with a depth reaching the bottom of the wood, cut the bud into the shape of an interface, place the peeled bud in the middle of the interface, insert the lower end into the abdominal sac skin, press it tightly and wrap it with plastic wrap, wait for the interface to heal, and then untie the film when the grafted bud protrudes.

2. Cutting method

Cut the rootstock obliquely 30 cm from the ground, peel an incision downwards on the high side, and then cut another incision downwards on the tip side to the same length as the rootstock. Insert the scion into the incision of the rootstock and seal it with plastic wrap.
