How to plant jujube kernels in pots

How to plant jujube kernels in pots

Date kernels can be planted, but you must choose the right sowing time. Generally, they are sown in spring and autumn. Due to the different temperatures and climates in different regions, the specific time should be determined according to the local climate.

The growing period of jujube kernels is relatively long. If you plant jujube kernels in pots, it will take 2-3 years to bear fruit, and it will enter the peak fruit-bearing period after 5 years. Watering and fertilizing are required in time during the growth period.

How to plant jujube kernels

1. Processing of date pits

Before planting, you need to take the date pits out of the ripe fruit, then wash the flesh with clean water and finally dry them. In addition, you can also directly purchase the processed date pits.

2. Soaking in water to accelerate germination

Soak the date pits in clean water for 1-2 days to allow them to fully absorb water. Then take them out, cover them with a wet cloth, and place them in a warm environment to germinate. After the date pits germinate, you can sow them normally.

3. Planting soil

The soil also needs to be prepared in advance. It is best to plant in loose, breathable, organic-rich soil, plant 3-4 seeds in each pot, then cover with fine soil, and finally soak the soil to promote germination.

4. Transplanting

After the growth is stable, you can transplant it. Pay attention to the supply of water and fertilizer, and prune and top it in time, so as to make the plant fuller.
