Cultivation methods and precautions of Western Rhododendron

There are many varieties of azaleas, and one of the most beautiful and easy-to-grow ones is a flower called "Western Azalea". It is a very ornamental flowering plant. The whole plant is short and blooms in large quantities. In addition, the flowering period of this flower is longer than that of ordinary flowers, making it very suitable for balcony potted viewing.

How to cultivate Western azalea

1. Soil selection

Azalea likes loose, humus-rich, slightly acidic sandy soil with good air permeability. We should choose this kind of soil when planting. It is recommended to mix 3 parts of leaf mold, 3 parts of culture soil, 2 parts of coarse sand, and 2 parts of river mud to prepare flower soil.

2. Moisture management

Azalea likes moisture very much. Once it lacks water, its leaves will wilt. Therefore, whether it is summer or winter, it must be watered in time. The only difference is that watering should be more frequent in summer and longer in winter.

3. Lighting management

In order to promote the flourishing of azalea, sufficient light should be provided during the growth period. In autumn, winter and spring, it can be maintained in full sunlight without shade. Of course, it will hibernate in summer, so it is best to keep it in a ventilated and cool semi-shaded environment.

Precautions for the care of Western azalea

1. Proper pruning: Observe the azalea more often. Any branches that are too thin or too dense, yellow leaves, dead leaves, etc. should be cut off in time to avoid consuming too much nutrients and affecting the growth of the entire plant.

2. Temperature: The suitable growth temperature of azalea is between 15 and 25 degrees. When the temperature in summer is higher than 35 degrees, the azalea needs to be cooled down and shaded. It needs to be moved indoors for maintenance during the low temperatures in winter.
