What should I do if the roots of hyacinth are moldy? Can it still survive?

1. What to do if the roots of hyacinth are moldy

If the hyacinth bulbs are moldy, you need to clean the moldy parts and replant them.

1. Wear gloves: When handling hyacinth bulbs, be sure to wear gloves. Never touch the juice and mold on the hyacinth bulbs directly with your hands, otherwise it will cause itching, redness and swelling of the skin, and some allergic reactions.

2. Cut the bulbs: After putting on gloves, prepare a clean knife, hold the hyacinth bulbs in one hand, and cut off the moldy part of the bulbs with the other hand until the exposed part turns white and is not moldy.

3. Dry the bulbs: Place the cut bulbs with the cut side facing upwards in a cool and ventilated place for 2 days until the fresh cut is completely dry. Then re-hydrate the bulbs or re-plant them in moist soil in the flowerpots.

2. Can hyacinth survive if its roots are moldy?

Whether the hyacinth can survive after its roots are moldy depends on how large the moldy area is.

1. The root plate is completely rotten: If the entire hyacinth bulb is rotten to the point that all the root plates need to be cut off, then there is no possibility of saving it and you can just give up on it. It will not survive.

2. The root plate is intact: If the entire hyacinth bulb has a complete root plate after all the moldy parts are cut off, even if only 1/2 or 1/3 of the root plate is left, it can still survive and bloom if it is treated according to the above method.
