Thunder God Pests: Scale Insects

Symptoms of harm

Scale insects often parasitize on leaf sheaths and stems, especially in dark places such as the back of leaf sheaths. They use their piercing-sucking mouthparts to penetrate deep into the plant's stomata to absorb nutrients. This has a great impact on the growth of succulents, causing the seedlings to gradually wither and turn yellow, and make them susceptible to infection and death. In summer, with high temperatures and heavy rains, poor ventilation or insufficient sunlight, scale insects are very likely to cause damage.

Prevention and treatment methods

Pay attention to ventilation and detect insects early. When a small number of insects occur, use a brush to brush them off and then rinse them with water. When pests occur on a large scale, chemical methods are used for prevention and control.

During the peak period of nymph hatching, spray the pesticide 1 to 3 times. For example, use 80% DDT emulsifiable concentrate or 1000 times diluted 3% pyrethroids and spray once every 7 to 10 days for 3 times in a row.

Thundergod Pest: Red Spider

Symptoms of harm

Red spider mites often occur in the hot summer season. In the early stage, they mainly appear on the back of leaves, piercing and sucking branches and leaves, causing the leaves to dry and turn yellow.

Prevention and treatment methods

After discovering the plants, use 1000 times diluted 40% omethoate, 1000 times diluted 80% dichlorvos, or 1000~1500 times diluted 40% dicofol, all of which have significant effects.

Strengthen maintenance at ordinary times, and spray with clean water frequently when the weather is dry in summer.

Thor Diseases: Leaf Spot

Symptoms of harm

Some varieties have white and light green spots on their leaves. In the early stages of leaf spot disease, you can't see anything without careful observation. But as the pathogen spreads, many yellow-brown, nearly circular spots will appear on the leaves. The spots gradually link together, with halos around them. In the later stage, the spots will expand and the entire leaf will turn yellow and wither.

Prevention and treatment methods

Strengthen cultivation management and control temperature. Water the plant sufficiently during the growing season to keep the soil in the pot slightly moist, but not too wet or waterlogged, otherwise the roots will rot and the whole plant may die. Once you find the diseased leaves, remove them immediately to avoid infecting other leaves.

In the early stage of the disease, spray 500-600 times diluted 25% myclobutanil emulsifiable concentrate (such as Guoguang Bixian) or 400-600 times diluted 50% manganese zinc wettable powder (such as Guoguang Yingna). Use 2-3 times in a row, with an interval of 7-10 days.
