How often should I water the longevity flower? When caring for and watering Kalanchoe, you cannot water it on a specific day. If you water it on a specific day, high temperature and dryness will cause the roots to wither and die of drought. Low temperature and humid seasons will cause the soil to remain moist for a long time, causing the roots to suffocate and rot. The watering of Kalanchoe should be adjusted according to seasonal changes, different environments, and different maintenance soils. Only in this way can Kalanchoe be well maintained. First, pay attention to environmental differences:When caring for Kalanchoe, each flower lover has a different maintenance environment. Different watering times are required according to different sunshine hours and ventilation conditions. If you keep it in a place with long light hours and good ventilation, you need to water it immediately when the surface of the soil is dry. If you keep the flower in a location where the sunlight is not very long and the ventilation is slightly poor, you should extend the watering period by one or two days, and then water it again when the soil is almost completely dry. Second, soil differences:The soil can coordinate the root growth environment of Kalanchoe, and can coordinate water, air, temperature and fertilizer. The soil configuration of the Kalanchoe we planted is slightly different. Different watering methods are also required: 1. Soil with good water retention: The soil often used to grow Kalanchoe in flower beds is mostly a mixture of coconut coir, perlite and some sandy garden soil. This kind of planting material has relatively sufficient water retention, so we need to extend the watering time relatively. When the surface of the flower soil is dry, extend the watering time for a few days. 2. Soil with good drainage: When I plant flowers, I always mix them with soil that has good drainage. This kind of soil is more flexible to water and can alternate between dry and wet in a short period of time. I usually use a mixture of 1/3 of garden soil, humus soil and freshwater river water. This kind of planting material contains more river sand, which greatly enhances the drainage. When using this kind of planting material, water it in the evening when the shallow surface of the soil is dry. Third, seasonal watering differences:The climate varies greatly in four seasons, and the amount of water evaporated from the soil is slightly different. In addition, the growth stage of Kalanchoe in four seasons is also different, so watering should also be changed accordingly: 1. Spring watering The climate is relatively humid and the light is relatively mild in spring. Although it is the growing season of Kalanchoe, watering should not be too frequent. The leaves can also absorb moisture in the humid air. Therefore, if the surface of the flower soil is dry, watering should be extended for 2 to 3 days, and the flower soil should be sprayed 2 to 3 times a day during the dry period. 2. Watering in summer In summer, the temperature is very high, the light is relatively strong, and the amount of moisture in the soil and the amount of moisture evaporated from the leaves is relatively large. At this time, proper shade and enhanced ventilation are required. When watering the Kalanchoe, you can water it when the surface of the soil is dry or when the soil cools down in the evening. You can spray it once in the morning and evening every day. 3. Watering in Autumn Many flower growers believe that the temperature in autumn is relatively low, so they can water less in autumn. This is certainly possible in the north, but in the south, the autumn wind is a "dehumidifier", and the Kalanchoe will lose water if you are not careful. It is more appropriate to continue watering in autumn and spray more than 3 times a day. 4. Watering in winter In the south, there is basically no need to bring the flowers indoors in winter, but when the temperature drops, the Kalanchoe will still enter a dormant period. When watering, you can extend the watering period by about 3 to 5 days when the surface of the flower soil is dry. Spray 2 to 3 times a week. Kalanchoe grown in the north needs to be brought indoors for the winter, where there is insufficient light and poor ventilation. Then you can extend the watering period to about a week when the surface of the soil is dry. However, during the dry period of the soil, you must spray the leaves 1 to 2 times a day. |
