1. Cutting methodThis plant is usually propagated by taking cuttings. First, you can cut 5 to 8 cm long branches from healthy stems. Each branch should have more than three leaf nodes. You can also use the top tips for cuttings. 2. Temperature controlIn order for the branches to take root, the temperature must be controlled at around 18 to 25 degrees. If it is below 18 degrees, the branches will find it difficult to take root or the roots will grow slowly. If the temperature is higher than 25 degrees, the wounds on the branches will easily be infected by bacteria and then rot, and as the temperature rises, the scope of the rot will become more widespread. If the cuttings are to experience low temperatures after grafting, we can use plastic film to wrap the cuttings to keep them warm. It is important to note that if the ambient temperature is close to zero degrees, the plants can easily be frozen and die. If the temperature is too high, we can provide appropriate shade to cool it down. The shade should block 50% to 80% of the sunlight. At the same time, spray water on the branches about 3 to 5 times a day. Since the temperature is high on sunny days, we spray water more often. However, when the temperature is relatively low on rainy days, we can reduce the number of spraying water or even not spray at all. 3. Ensure humidityAfter cuttings, we must ensure that the air humidity of its growth environment is about 75% to 85%. We can also increase the humidity by spraying it, about 1 to 3 times a day, depending on weather conditions. 4. Ensure lightingUsually, propagation by cuttings requires the participation of light. However, if the light is too strong, the temperature inside the branches will be high, and the water in the branches will evaporate faster, which is not conducive to the survival of the branches, so the sunlight must be blocked by 50% to 80%. 5. Matrix selectionIt is best to use river sand, peat soil, etc. mixed together as the cultivation soil. If it is cultivated at home, it is recommended to use a prepared and disinfected substrate. |
