How to shape the Jade Plant in potted plants

There are three styles of golden branches and jade leaves for reference:

(1) For a semicircular crown, let the branches grow freely first, then cut the trunk to dwarf it , let the side branches grow for a period of time, and then cut off the secondary branches. Then, according to the method of "one branch grows into three branches, and three branches grow into nine branches", a full semicircular crown can be formed.

(2) Allow it to grow for a few years, then select the material that can be used to make bonsai according to the tree shape and the bonsai modeling , retain the pre-selected branches, and grow cloud pieces. This will make it a more natural bonsai.

(3) Use cotton cloth, aluminum wire and other equipment to bend and tie the main trunk of the Jade Plant. Position the branches to the angle we need, and bend the main trunk and side branches to the degree of curvature we want.

Auxiliary equipment modeling:

1. Trunk:

Cut healthy branches from the old stump of Jade Plant, the branches should be straight or have the desired bend. The branches should not be too old.

It is advisable to choose one-year-old tender branches. Then the cuttings will survive for about half a year. After wrapping the main trunk with cotton cloth, wrap it with aluminum wire.

Bend the trunk into an "S" shape. It is recommended to bend it into 2 and a half bends and then let it grow. During this period, keep the protruding branches of the S bend and trim the rest of the branches.

2. Side branches:

After a period of maintenance, when the thickness of the side branches is about 1/3 of the main trunk, you can use the pulling method to pull the side branches to grow at a horizontal angle. When the side branches are about 1/2 of the main trunk, you can make a horizontal S-bend shape for the side branches.

Generally, one and a half bends are retained, and the upper branches are shorter than the lower branches, with the outline being bougainvillea-shaped.

3. Growing branches:

Continue to release the branches on the side branches. Also, during the growth period, you need to select the bud points, prune the branches that go vertically upward and downward, retain the asymmetrical and non-whorl branches on both sides of the branches, and select the secondary branches in the way of "one branch supporting three or five branches".

When the branches are about 1/3 of the side branches, do the second pruning . Finally, the secondary branches grow and then prune them to shorten them. The cloud piece is made.
