Aloe flowering is not uncommon

What does the blooming of aloe mean? It is an old topic that has been replayed many times. The most common rumors are " blooming flowers bring wealth " and " happy events in the family ". But flowers and plants are ruthless, and all these rumors are just the good wishes of flower lovers!

In fact, the flowering of aloe vera is the same as the flowering of ordinary potted plants. It is a normal growth and reproduction process and has no special meaning.

Moreover, as long as you choose the right variety and take proper care of it, the cluster aloe will bloom after being grown for about 2-3 years.

For example: Snow Aloe, Night City Aloe, Sea Tiger Aloe, Striped Aloe, etc. The flowering period is generally in late spring and early summer. The flower sword is slender, and the flower buds are shaped like pagodas in the early stage.

As it grows and develops, it slowly spreads out, and the orange-yellow flowers bloom one after another, and then gradually wither from bottom to top. The entire flowering period lasts about 2-3 weeks.

Appearance of flowers : The flowers are slender cylindrical, with edges like slightly inverted trumpets, and there is no special smell .

In fact, most aloe vera can be directly propagated by division, and there is no need to deliberately collect seeds:

Except for the Queen Aloe, most common aloes are easy to grow side buds in groups. They can be propagated by division when repotting, and do not need to be pollinated during the flowering period to produce seeds. Therefore, aloe flowering does not have much reproductive significance except for ornamental purposes.

Moreover, aloe vera needs to consume certain nutrients to bloom, and may cause the distance between aloe vera leaves to widen.

Therefore, good light needs to be maintained and sufficient water and nutrients need to be provided throughout the flowering period. After the flowering period, the remaining flowers should be cut off in time and thin fertilizer should be added to avoid thinning of leaves and aging of the plant due to consumption during the flowering period.

How to deal with aloe after flowering

After the aloe vera blooms, if you want to enjoy the flowers, you can wait until the flowers fade, then hold the lower part of the flower arrow with your hand, and gently shake it left and right to break the flower arrow off the aloe vera.

If you are worried about damaging the aloe vera when breaking off the flower arrow, you can use scissors to cut off half of the length of the flower arrow and wipe off the juice left from the cut of the flower arrow with a paper towel.

Let the remaining half of the flower arrow wither naturally. When the flower arrow is completely withered, you can pull it off with a light pull.
