How many kilograms does millet yield per mu?

In recent years, due to breakthroughs in breeding and cultivation technology, the yield per 667 square meters (one mu) has increased to 350-400 kilograms, and high-yield plots have exceeded 500 kilograms.

China has a large grain reserve and has been reducing rice stocks in recent years. The current market purchase price of rice is around 1.2 to 1.3 yuan per catty . The market price is not high and the demand for rice has not increased.

Generally speaking, the income from planting one mu of millet is more than 1,000 yuan . Millet is drought-resistant, barren-resistant and disaster-resistant. It is particularly suitable for planting in arid and semi-arid areas. Planting millet is a good way to develop the economy in these areas!

How to cultivate millet for high yield

Seed selection

Select good varieties. The varieties commonly cultivated in the northern region include Hebei's Ji Gu series, Henan's Yu Gu series, Shandong's Jingu series, and Lu Gu series.

Planting time

Cultivation season and crop rotation Millet is divided into spring cultivation and summer cultivation. The sowing time for spring cultivation is early April in the Huanghuai region, and the harvest time is mid-to-late July. The subsequent crop can only be late autumn crops with a relatively short growth period.

Summer cultivation, the sowing period is mid-to-late June after the wheat harvest. As long as the management is good, delaying the sowing to early to mid-July can also achieve a good harvest. At present, millet cultivation is mainly summer cultivation, and spring cultivation is mostly in the northern one-season cultivation area.

sowing

①Base fertilizer

Millet has a well-developed root system and strong ability to absorb fertilizer, so applying enough basal fertilizer has a significant effect on increasing production. Before ploughing the land, apply 2500-3000 kg of organic fertilizer, 40-50 kg of superphosphate, and 10-15 kg of urea per mu.

② Turn the soil

After applying fertilizer, the land should be tilled and prepared. The land should be prepared finely, flatly and solidly to help retain moisture and lay the foundation for all seedlings to be grown in one sowing.

③Sowing method

There are two sowing methods: broadcasting and row sowing . Row sowing is the main method in high-yield fields, while broadcast sowing is the main method in the arid western regions. The sowing rate for broadcasting is 1000-1500 grams per 667 square meters, and the sowing rate for row sowing is 500-800 grams per 667 square meters.

Field management

(1) Field management: After the seedlings have grown to 3 leaves, the field must be managed intensively for half a month, with thinning twice, clearing twice, and tillage and hoeing three times.

(2) Retaining seedlings should be done on the basis of thinning. Small mounds, parallel mounds, and triangular seedlings should be adopted. When the seedlings are 6 to 8 cm tall, they should be transplanted. About 40,000 seedlings per mu should be retained.

(3) After transplanting, carry out multiple tillage and weeding to prevent weeds from growing. At the same time, promote root growth to achieve the purpose of root growth, plant growth and stem control.

(4) Apply 15-20 kg of urea per mu before the leaves are fully grown. Water the plants promptly in case of drought. Pay attention to leaf preservation in the later stage to promote full grains.
