How to water Tiger Pilan

Watering principles for Tiger Pilan

Tiger Piranha does not need to be watered regularly and casually, but also needs to be watered according to the weather and its own growth conditions.

Watering according to the weather

When the temperature is high or it is windy, due to the large evaporation, water should be applied when the soil is dry, usually twice a week; when the temperature is low or it is cloudy, water less; on rainy days, do not water anymore. Sometimes when there is too much rain, move the flower pot to a sheltered place to avoid excessive waterlogging.

Watering according to the habits and growth conditions of the snake plant

Because of the different origins and varieties of Sansevieria, some like moisture while others are drought-resistant. According to the appearance of the snake plant, if the leaves are large and the growth is fast, water it more during the growing period; if the leaves are small and the growth is slow, watering can be reduced.

Water more when it is flowering and less during the dormant period. Usually in spring, summer and autumn, water after the topsoil is dry. In winter, water after the potting soil is completely dry, and water thoroughly.

Water according to root health

The root system of Sansevieria supports the above-ground part of the plant and absorbs water and nutrients from the soil. The roots themselves also respire, inhaling oxygen and exhaling carbon dioxide. Every time you water, you not only moisten the soil, but also flush out the carbon dioxide around the roots and waste in the potting soil. Fill the soil air with fresh air.

If watering is improper, the roots will turn black and rot. Check the root growth when repotting every year and adjust the watering method.

Special circumstances

Transplanting

Before transplanting, the soil in the pot should usually be moistened and then planted after it dries slightly. After planting, water thoroughly to allow the soil to combine closely with the roots, and keep the soil moist for the next 2 to 3 weeks.

Overfertilization

Fertilization and watering are inseparable in flower cultivation. One of the remedies for excessive fertilization is watering. When too much fertilizer is applied, water it thoroughly to allow the water to seep out from the spray to dilute the fertilizer, and then place it in a sunny and ventilated place to allow the soil in the pot to dry as soon as possible, being careful not to allow water to accumulate.

Division, cuttings and seedlings

When dividing seedlings, the root system of the plant is relatively weak, so watering cannot be done directly. It is recommended to use the immersion pot method to allow the water to soak the soil from bottom to top. If watering is not sufficient, sprinkle water around the plant to increase humidity.
