Ginseng fruit planting method and time When is the best time to plant ginseng fruit?

It is more suitable to plant ginseng fruit in spring and summer from March to August every year. When planting, the plants should be planted on sunny hillsides or vast land to provide them with scattered light throughout the day to promote the growth and development of ginseng fruit.

Ginseng fruit planting time

Ginseng fruit is suitable for planting in spring , because the climate and temperature at this time are more conducive to seed germination and suitable for the growth of ginseng fruit.

The time for planting ginseng fruit in different regions is also different. It can be planted early in the southern region with higher temperature, and can be appropriately delayed in the northern region with relatively lower temperature.

Ginseng fruit planting conditions

1. Environment

Ginseng fruit mainly grows in relatively barren mountains, ravines and wastelands . In China, it is mainly produced in Jiangxi, Fujian and Guangxi.

Therefore, when planting ginseng fruit, you should choose a sunny hillside or south-facing land, then use a hoe to deep plow the soil, and add river sand to it to increase the soil's air permeability and drainage.

2. Lighting

During the fruiting period, ginseng fruit has a high demand for light, and it is necessary to provide it with diffuse light throughout the day . During the growth period of ginseng fruit, it only needs to be provided with 5-7 hours of light per day. Note that in the summer when the light is strong, a sunshade should be built for the ginseng fruit to prevent the plant from being burned by strong light.

3. Moisture

Ginseng fruit has a low demand for water. When caring for it , it is generally watered every 5 days to keep the soil slightly moist and dry. In summer, water evaporates quickly and the soil is prone to dryness. Ginseng fruit needs to be watered every 3 days to ensure the normal growth of the plant.

High-yield planting method of ginseng fruit

1. Land preparation management

Keep the row spacing between plants at 40-70 cm, plough 20-30 cm deep, then level the land into 70 cm wide strips with the surface of the strip more than ten centimeters above the ground.

Choose strong seedlings that are about 15 cm tall, with many branches, thick trunks, lush leaves, and no diseases or insect pests for planting. Plant them in a half-meter V-shape and water them enough to establish roots after planting.

Ginseng fruit is generally grown by cuttings, which are easy to root and grow quickly. Cuttings require certain skills. If you don't grow seedlings yourself, you can also buy seedlings from regular channels.

2. Water and fertilizer management

Apply compound fertilizer frequently in small amounts, and pay attention to inter-cultivation and weeding. Generally, apply fertilizer once every 10 days , and apply more potassium fertilizer after flowering . March to June and September to November are the periods when ginseng fruit needs the most water for growth, development, flowering and fruiting, so watering should be done in time.

3. Pruning

Ginseng fruit has strong germination ability, so it is necessary to prune and trim branches in time. From the part above 15-20 cm of the plant, select 3-5 strong and evenly distributed branches as the main branches, and cut off the rest.

Each plant can only produce 30 fruits at most. Since the stems of ginseng fruit are relatively soft, bamboo poles or plastic ropes must be used to build a frame when fruiting to prevent it from falling over.

4. Harvest

When the ginseng fruit has obvious purple stripes on its surface and the skin and flesh turn light yellow, it can be harvested. The skin of the ripe ginseng fruit is very soft, so you need to wear gloves to gently hold it, then cut it off. Each fruit must be covered with a packaging net before it can be packed.
