How to propagate mint by cuttings? The fastest way to root mint cuttings

The propagation methods of mint include cutting propagation, division propagation, sowing propagation, etc. Cutting propagation is one of the common methods, with a high survival rate, convenient operation, and easy management after cutting.

Mint cutting time

Mint planting and cuttings are usually carried out between April and May in spring or September and October in autumn . The climate and temperature in these two time periods are more suitable, making it easy to manage after planting. Mint is also in the growing season, with high internal activity, and a higher survival rate after cuttings.

Mint cutting method

1. Cut the cuttings

Cut strong branches from the mint plant for cuttings, remove the leaves at the bottom of the branches, prepare rooting water solution, soak the cuttings for a while, then take them out and place them in a cool place to dry.

2. Cutting medium

In order to promote the rooting of mint as soon as possible after cuttings, you can prepare a suitable substrate, which can be mixed with river sand and vermiculite, ensure good permeability, and expose it to the sun for disinfection and sterilization in advance.

3. Take cuttings

Prepare a flower pot with good air permeability, fill it with substrate, water the substrate to maintain good humidity, insert the branches into the substrate, and gently press the surrounding soil.

Rooting Mint Cuttings

If you want the mint cuttings to take root quickly, you need to move them to a cool and ventilated place and keep the surrounding temperature at around 20 degrees. This way, they will take root in about half a month.
