Most people who grow orchids do not know how to water them correctly. To water orchids in a scientific way, we need to figure out the watering time is related to the season, which will be conducive to its flowering and growth.

How often should you water your orchid?

In spring, when the temperature is between ten and twenty degrees, you only need to water the orchid once a week, with about two hundred milliliters of water each time. In summer, when the temperature is higher, you only need to water the orchid once every three days, with three hundred milliliters of water each time.

The temperature difference between autumn and spring is not much, so you only need to water the plants once a week or so, with 200 ml of water each time. In winter, the temperature is lower, so you need to water the plants once every two weeks, with 150 ml of water each time.

What kind of water is good for orchids?

Orchids have relatively high requirements for water quality. If you use ordinary tap water to water the flowers, it is best to collect the water in a pot and place it outside to dry in the sun. This can reduce the damage to the orchids caused by chemicals in the water.

If conditions permit, you can directly use purified water. It is best not to use rainwater because the environment is quite polluted nowadays. A lot of rainwater is not as clean as imagined, and it will affect the growth of orchids.

Tips for watering orchids

When watering orchids, try to water them thoroughly at one time. You can also add some crushed foam in the pot. The crushed foam can absorb water and increase water retention, but be careful not to put too much. Also, place the orchid in a ventilated place to avoid water accumulation.
