How to germinate mangosteen seeds and grow them into potted plants

Mangosteen Seed Germination Method

Step 1 : Select mature and plump mangosteen, take out the seeds, clean them and soak them in warm water at 30-40℃, changing the water once a day. Soak for about two or three days, and when the seeds gradually soften, take them out and put them in a cool and ventilated place to dry.

Step 1 : Sow the mangosteen seeds evenly in the loose and breathable soil, cover with 1-2 cm of soil and gently compact it, water it thoroughly once to ensure that both the mangosteen seeds and the soil absorb water. If the temperature is low, you also need to cover the flower pot with plastic film and poke holes with a toothpick to ensure ventilation.

Step 3 : Move the flower pot to a cool environment and wait for about a week until you can see the mangosteen seeds germinate.

Mangosteen seed germination process

Under the condition of ensuring temperature and humidity, mangosteen seeds will grow reddish-brown seedlings from the soil in about a week . The mangosteen seedlings can be transplanted when they grow 5 to 6 pairs of true leaves.

Mangosteen is a tropical fruit, and its main growing area is Thailand. It has also been introduced for cultivation in Yunnan, Guangdong, Fujian and other places with warm climates in my country, but it is not suitable for planting in northern my country. Mangosteen has a long lifespan, but grows slowly. It takes 10 years from sowing mangosteen to bearing fruit.
