What can I do if the mountain tortoise does not germinate?

Mountain tortoise is a vine plant that germinates and roots through tubers, just like potatoes and sweet potatoes. It can grow many leaves like lotus leaves. Mountain tortoise has high requirements for temperature and humidity for germination. If you want the mountain tortoise to take root and grow quickly, it needs to be germinated.

Mountain turtle germination time

Mountain tortoises like warm and semi-shady environments. They will gradually enter a dormant state in the cool autumn and winter seasons. This is not suitable for germination. Therefore, the germination time for mountain tortoises should be in spring as much as possible. The rising temperature in spring is conducive to germination and rooting.

Mountain turtle germination technology

1. Clean the tubers of the mountain turtle and put them in a container. Place it in a cool and ventilated place. Spray water twice a day in the morning and evening to keep the tubers moist. Also, maintain the surrounding temperature between 18-25°C. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent the tubers from being sunburned and unable to germinate. The tubers of the mountain turtle will germinate in about a week.

2. Prepare loose soil rich in organic matter. Wash and dry the rhizomes of the mountain tortoise plant, and bury them in the soil. Do not bury them too deep. Let the rhizomes be exposed at one-third of the height. Then spray water to keep the soil moist. If the temperature is low, you can also cover it with plastic wrap or a plastic bag, poke a few small holes for ventilation, and move them to a cool and ventilated place.
